Armenia tour 2025

Dreaming of a big adventure is exciting but turning it into reality can be a bit tricky. Planning an unforgettable trip takes time, and it’s always a good idea to sort out the details in advance to make everything smooth and stress-free. That’s why Levon Travel has already put together the perfect Armenia Tour 2025 for anyone who likes to plan ahead.

With everything planned out for you, all you need to do is pack your bags and enjoy the journey. Choose from two convenient dates: May 10–17, 2025, or September 13–20, 2025. If you’re up for more, there’s even an option to add an unforgettable Georgia Extension Tour.

Let’s explore how this tour will take you through Armenia.

A Perfect Start: Yerevan and Etchmiadzin

Yerevan view

Your journey kicks off in vibrant Yerevan, one of the world’s oldest cities. From the moment you arrive, you’ll see its “pink” buildings made from unique volcanic tuff stone. The tourists will check in at the Ani Plaza Hotel in the heart of the capital city and will have some time to explore Yerevan in the evening.

The following day tourists will head to Etchmiadzin, the spiritual heart of Armenia. The guides will show you the 7th-century Hripsime Church, an architectural masterpiece, before visiting the UNESCO-listed Etchmiadzin Cathedral, which recently reopened after a major renovation. Here you will attend Holy Mass in one of the world’s oldest Christian cathedrals.

The tour of Yerevan begins with a panoramic view of the city from the “Mayr Hayastan” statue, offering breathtaking sights of the city under the shadow of Mount Ararat. A visit to the Matenadaran, home to over 17,000 ancient manuscripts, will give you a glimpse into Armenia’s rich literary and scientific heritage. Of course, the tour features strolling through the Cascade, a stunning open-air museum and cultural hub and visiting the Armenian Genocide Museum.

Heading to the South: Wine and History

Noravank monastery

This day of your Armenia adventure takes you south, where history and breathtaking scenery meet. First, you will head to Khor Virap, one of Armenia’s most iconic monasteries. Khor Virap is where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned in an underground cell for 13 years. Standing here, you’ll also get the best view of Mount Ararat. It’s a photographer’s dream and a powerful moment for anyone who is visiting, especially in May when there are more chances that you will have a clear view of the mountain.

Next, you’ll visit the Noravank Monastery. It is located in a beautiful canyon surrounded by towering red cliffs. The natural beauty surrounding Noravank adds an extra layer of magic. Besides, there are no buildings next to it and you can really feel the atmosphere of medieval Armenia where monasteries were built on the edge of the mountains. Now, we can only wonder how they managed to do it.

Lunch in Areni village offers more than just great food, it’s a chance to experience Armenia’s thriving wine culture. In general, the village of Areni is popular as the cradle of winemaking. It boasts centuries-old traditions and newly rediscovered cave cellars.

No Tour is Possible Without Dilijan and Sevan

The following day of the Armenia tour 2025 is dedicated to stunning landscapes and peaceful vibes. This means tourists will head to Lake Sevan and Dilijan. Often called the “blue jewel” of Armenia, Lake Sevan and Sevanavank Monastery located on a peninsula are among must-visit destinations. All guidebooks will tell you the monastery offers panoramic views of the lake but the centuries-old stonework and tranquil atmosphere within its walls is special.

Next, we will be off to Dilijan, a charming resort town in Tavush province. It’s a favorite gateway for hiking lovers because the beautiful mountainous area is covered by lush forests with great hiking trails. You’ll take a stroll through the picturesque town before heading to the historic Goshavank Monastery. Dilijan has recently hosted many food festivals and is popular for its restaurants. Lunch at a local restaurant will cap off the day with exceptional Armenian flavors.

Catching Gyumri Vibes

Gyumri

Gyurmi, Armenia’s second-largest city, is the next stop. Gyumri has been a cultural hub for centuries and is renowned for its traditional Armenian architecture and vibrant arts scene. It is a city that has its own unique vibe, and our trip will help you understand why people are so obsessed with it.

Tourists will begin the day with a walking tour of Gyumri’s charming streets, lined with black tuff stone buildings and colorful balconies. A stop at the Urban Life Museum is a unique experience as there are not that many places in Armenia showing daily life and traditions.

The local cuisine also differs so a lunch with local specialties before returning to Yerevan is also included.

A Mix of Ancient Heritage and Medieval Past

Geghard monastery

A perfect trip to Armenia cannot but include Garni Temple and the Geghard Monastery. It’s not just about proximity to Yerevan or being a UNESCO World Heritage site (Geghard). These are two iconic places that show Armenia’s pagan past and medieval heritage.

The Geghard Monastery has incredible rock-cut architecture. Dating back to the 10th-13th centuries, this monastery is partially carved into the cliffs of the Azat Valley. Meanwhile, Garni is Armenia’s only preserved pagan temple. The surrounding area, once a royal summer retreat, is just as captivating with its natural beauty and deep historical roots.

Add Weekend in Georgia to Your Armenia Tour 2025

Tbilisi view

For those curious about Georgia and its capital, this two-day extension offers a snapshot of the iconic landmarks. While it’s not an in-depth tour, the trip includes some must-see highlights to enjoy Georgia’s unique charm.

Day one begins with a scenic drive through Armenia’s Lori region before reaching Tbilisi around midday. Along the way, you’ll stop at Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital, and visit the historic Jvari Monastery. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will have a Tbilisi city tour.

On day two, we will explore more of Georgia with a visit to Rabati Castle, a beautifully restored fortress, and Vardzia, a fascinating cave monastery complex.

This extension is perfect for travelers who want to experience a bit of Georgia’s culture and landmarks, even if time is limited.
