Gata Festival

Khachik village in Vayots Dzor Province hosts the traditional Gata Festival to honor Armenian national pastry. Gata is a sweet pastry made with layers of flaky dough filled with a rich mixture of butter, and sugar, and often flavored with various ingredients like nuts or cinnamon. The visitors usually enjoy the gata baking as well as music and dances. Of course, tasting the largest gata is an essential part of the day.
